I was taking a look through Aviva’s list of directories organized by the number of backlinks in Yahoo and noted that out of the 71 directories listed (yes sadly I did sit here and count them) there were only 3 bidding directories contained in the list.
To be honest, given the nature of bidding directories I was expecting to find more. One of the key factors in the success of a bidding directory is that it must be well promoted which in the most basic terms means: build links.
At the time of writing we currently have 34 bidding directories included in the Bidilicious List and the top 3 in terms of their number of links in Yahoo are as follows:
133,000 - Web Directory Bid
65,000 - Zorg Links
34,100 - Top URL Search
Obviously there is more to running a successful bidding directory than just building links. But it is a good way to monitor your competition and create targets for your sites. I quite often check up on my competitors via lists such as the one found at Aviva. View their inbound links and see if there is anything I can learn from their link building campaigns.
Hopefully the next time Aviva updates their list it will include a few more bidding directories.
